You just got back from your awesome Disney trip, and you cannot stop talking about all the amazingness that just occurred…….and then reality hits, you have work tomorrow, and the kids have school. This is what we Disney people call, post-Disney partum, the Disney Blues, or just Disney Depression. It happens to all of us, and it’s inescapable, but there are a few things you can do to help adjust back to the real world.
What exactly is the Disney Blues?
It’s that empty feeling that you get when you return to reality and are no longer in the Disney bubble. It does start to set in when you receive your “tragical” express tag, but doesn’t take into full effect, until you leave the most magical place on earth!
Symptom may include, but are not limited to:
- Constantly scrolling through your trip picture s
- Rewatching all the video footage from your trip
- An emptiness that every vacation can bring when reality starts to set in
- Food tasting bland because none of your snacks are Mickey-shaped
- Cold, since you are no longer in 100% humidity and 95 degrees heat. If you travel to Disney during the summer month
- Dry, since there are no longer random thunderstorms throughout the day. Again, if you travel to Disney during the summer month
Is there a Cure?
Unfortunately, there isn’t an exact cure, outside of going back to the happiest place on earth. Only time can heal. 🙂 However, there are a few things I do that help me to alleviate my Disney blues and help me get back to reality:
- Scrolling through Disney related IG and FB accounts
- Within FB, I joined several WDW groups, where people post pics of their trips, tips, etc.. I’ll post my information and provide tips and advice I learned for my trips
- Watching Disney YouTubers, like Tim Tracker, The WDW Couple, DFBGuide, Disney Dose, Having a Magical Day Blog -shameless plug (https://www.youtube.com/channel/UC31kDE8ShjYQkPnrBOXdEXw?view_as=subscriber) and many more!
- Making a movie or slideshow of your Disney trip
- If you can, start planning your next trip
- Writing a blog post, how do you think I started mine!
