I’m starting a new series, This or That, where I compare different lands, parks, foods, etc. and give you an overview of both and my winner.
During our July trip, we checked out both of Disney’s water parks, Typhoon Lagoon, and Blizzard Beach. To kick off the new series, we’ll be comparing the two different parks.
Ride Overview
- Number of Rides/Attractions
- Typhoon Lagoon: 7 slides (includes tubes), a wave pool, and lazy river
- Blizzard Beach: 7 slides, a wave pool, lazy river, 2 children area (e.g., splash areas), and the chairlift
- Wave Pool
- Typhoon Lagoon: The waves were high and strong. I didn’t even need to go in more than 10 feet from shore to feel the pull and push of each wave. Additionally, because the waves were strong there seem to be long pauses between waves compared to Blizzard Beach
- Blizzard Beach: The waves were calmer, we were actually able to swim over to the start of the wave
- Overall, based on the calmness of Blizzard Beach seems to be aimed at families with smaller children with multiple children areas
Food Overview
- Typhoon Lagoon:

Mini Donuts - Lunch: Typhoon Tilly’s, Snack Shack, Lowtide Lou’s, and Leaning Palms
- Dinner: Snack Shack, Lowtide Lou’s
- Snacks: Mini Donuts, Let’s Go Slurpin’, and Happy Landings Ice Cream
- Blizzard Beach:
- Lunch: Lottawatta Lodge, Avalunch, and Warming Hut
- Dinner: Lottawatta Lodge, Avalunch
- Snacks: Mini Donuts, I.C. Expeditions, Polar Pub, Cooling Hut, Frostbite Freddy’s Frozen Freshments
Overview Review
And the WINNER for our family is Typhoon Lagoon.….At least for now 🙂 We mostly only spent our time in each of the wave pools and lazy rivers. The kiddos were having too much fun to take advantage of the other attractions. We’ll have to check back next year to see if our opinion changes.

I would love to hear your review, leave a comment below and let me know which park you prefer. And with that, I hope you’re having a magical day!
