19 New Enhancements coming to WDW in 2019

The past couple of years, Disney has constantly been changing and updating the theme parks and resorts. While this is amazing for Disney freaks like myself, it can be overwhelming for those just trying to plan a trip. There below is a quick cheatsheet highlighting all the new changes coming to Walt Disney World this year!

Below are the 19 new and magical enhancements coming to Walt Disney World in 2019:

Transportation

#1 The Skyliner:  The new gondola transportation system is set to open Fall 2019. This transportation system will  connect guests to Hollywood Studios and Epcot and will be accessible at the following locations and will connect to

  • Art of Animation
  • Pop Century
  • Caribbean Beach
  • Riviera Resort

Resort Updates

#2 Disney’s Riviera Resort: This will be the 15th DVC property and will be located adjacent to the Caribbean Beach. The location is set to open in Fall 2019 and will have access to the Skyliner.

# 3 Gran Destino Tower:  An addition to the  Coronado Springs Resort will open July 2019 with over 500 new guest rooms, a Bar & Grill and rooftop restaurant.

Park Updates

#4 Galaxy’s Edge: Star Wars themed land, set to open in Fall of 2019 at Hollywood Studios. This land will include the following:

  • Millennium Falcon: Smugglers Run
  • Star Wars: Rise of the Resistance
  • Journey to Batuu
  • Black Spire Outpost

#5 Mickey and Minnie’s Runaway Railway: The first Mickey-themed ride using 2.5D, no special glasses required. This attraction is set to open Fall of 2019 replacing the beloved, “Great Movie Ride” at Hollywood Studios.

#6 Space-Themed Restaurant: The anticipated Epcot space-themed restaurant is rumored to open sometime in 2019.

#7 “Beauty and the Beast” Sing-Along: Within the France pavilion at Epcot, a new Beauty and the Beast sing-along will be introduced in 2019.

#8 Pluto Meet & Greet: Pluto, Mickey’s beloved pet will meet guests at Pete’s Silly Sideshow at the Magic Kingdom starting Jan 18th.

Parade/Show Updates

#9 Hakuna Matata Time Dance Party: A new dance party with Timon and Rafiki to celebrate The Lion King’s 25th anniversary at the Animal Kingdom on Discovery Island starting January 18th. 

#10 Move it! Shake it! MousekeDance It! Street Party: An update to the Move it! Shake it! dance party parade at the Magic Kingdom will debut mid-January.

#11 Mickey & Minnie’s Surprise Celebration: To celebrate the fabulous mouse duo, new music, dancing, and limited edition merchandise and food will be available at the Magic Kingdom.

#12 Municiberg City Block: To celebrate the Incredibles, for a limited run (January 18-September 30, 2019) at Hollywood Studios, you can enjoy some super-charged fun as Pixar Place is transformed into Municiberg City block. You can meet and check Edna Mode’s designs OR join a dance party with Frozone and the Incredibles.

#13 Mike and Sulley Meet & Greet: Meet the Monsters Inc. crew at Hollywood Studio.

#14 3-D Photo opportunities: At the Animal Kingdom, you’ll have access to some 3-D photos to recreate scenes from Disney classics.

#15 Lightning McQueen’s Racing Academy: In Spring of 2019 at Hollywood Studios, a new show will allow you to be face-to-face with Lightning McQueen, where you’ll learn about his racing experience and meet Cruz Ramirez.

#16 Last viewing of “IllumiNations: Reflections of Earth”: The longtime running night show at Epcot is scheduled to be retired and replaced with “Epcot Forever” a new nighttime spectacular during the latter half of 2019. 

Disney Springs

#17 Jaleo: The new Jose Andres restaurant will open.

#18 City Works Eatery & Pour House: Restaurant offering over 80 beers on tap will open in the summer of 2019.

#19 NBA Experience: Basketball themed dining, shopping and gaming venue is set to open in the summer of 2019.
