One of the biggest expense for a Disney vacation can be the park tickets, so it’s important to select the right type of ticket for your family. To help you identify what type of ticket to purchase for your family, I’ve outlined some factors we look into when determining what ticketing options to select.
Trying to decide on whether to what type of tickets to buy for Disney World? I had the same question. Read along to find out how I determined what is the best choice for my family.
The Basics
Disney offers the following ticket options:
- Single -Day – This option allows guests to enter one park per day. After the second day, the ticket prices do go down.

Prices from the Disney world site pulled on 3/9/2019 - Park Hopper – This option allows guests to enter multiple parks per day. After the first day, the ticket prices do go down.

Prices from the Disney world site pulled on 3/9/2019 - 4- Park Magic Select – This option allows guests to enter one park per day for four days. However, you must use these tickets on select days, and there are blackout periods, (e.g., Spring break).
- This could be a great option if you have the flexibility to go Disney during the select dates. Savings could be upwards of $47 when comparing to the Single Day pass for four days.
- Park Hopper Plus – Similar to the Park Hopper option with additional access to the 2 Disney water parks, ESPN sports complex, Oak Trail golf course, and Disney’s miniature golf courses.

Overview Recommendation
Our family opts for an Annual Pass; however, if we didn’t visit the WDW multiple times a year, a Single Park ticket would be our winner. We have young children, and the idea of having to go from one park to another just terrorizes my husband and me. However, depending on how your family operates during your stays, a hopper might be more appealing. Additionally, as a DVC member, we receive an additional discount on our annual pass.
I would love to hear your winner, so comment below and let me know which option you prefer. And with that, I hope you’re having a magical day!
