As part of the Disney 101 series, we’ll be taking a deeper dive into specific topics, (e.g., dining, DVC, etc.) to help you plan your first OR next Disney World vacation. Today’s topic is the FastPass+ service.

1. Question: What’s a FastPass+?
Answer: It’s a free service that’s included in the price of park admission. This service allows park visitors to schedule/reserve access to up to 3 attractions (e.g., ride, show and/or character greeting) in advance.
2. Question: How do I get the FastPass+ service?
Answer: If you’re staying on Disney property and you have a smartphone,
you can start making your FastPass+ reservations 60 days from the first day of your stay on the My Disney Experience App or website (disneyword.disney.go.com). Reservations open up at 7 am. If you’re staying off property then you can start your reservations 30 days from the first day of your vacation. If you don’t have a smartphone then you can utilize the FastPass+ kiosks which are available at each park.
There are several date calculators that are available online to help you determine when you can start making your reservations. Below are just a few that we use:
3. Question: How many FastPasses can I reserve in a day?
Answer: You can reserve 3 FastPasses in advance, once those are used, you can book 1 FastPass at a time.
4. Question: Can I still park hop?
Answer: Yes, however, you can only make advance reservations to one park. Once you use all of those you can then select another park and book 1 FastPass at a time.
5. Question: What are the best attractions to use a FastPass on?
Answer: Currently, the top attractions per park are:
- Animal Kingdom: Avatar Flight of Passage, Na’vi River Journey, Expedition Everest, Kilimanjaro Safaris
- Epcot: Frozen Ever After, Soarin’ Around the World, Test Track

Seven Dwarfs Mine Train - Hollywood Studios: Slinky Dog Dash, Alien Swirling Saucers, Toy Story Midway Mania!, Rock n’ Roller Coaster, Tower of Terror
- Magic Kingdom: Seven Dwarfs Mine Train, Peter Pan’s Flight, Space Mountain
Warning: Once Toy Story Land opens up in Hollywood Studios this summer (2018) the top attractions to use your FastPass+ on will most likely change for that park.
6. Question: Can’t I just book all the top attractions for my FastPass+ reservation?
Answer: To ensure a fair opportunity for everyone visiting the park, Disney deployed a tiered approach. Therefore you can only book one Tier 1 ride at a time and then 2 others. For example, for Epcot you can only book one of the 3 top attractions, (Frozen Ever After, Soarin’ Around the World, Test Track) upfront, however, once you use the original 3 FastPass you can continue to book 1 FastPass at a time.
Do you have any additional questions? If so, comment below and with that, we hope you’re having a magical day!

I am wondering what you mean by 3 FastPasses in advance and then 1 FastPass at a time. Is this 3 FastPasses per day? When can I book the 1 FastPass at a time? Is this also ahead of time or once we get there?
So initially you can reserve 3 FastPasses at one park. After you use all 3 FastPasses OR timeframe for your FastPass expires, you can add an additional FastPass at any park. After you use that one, you can continue to reserve a FastPass one at a time.
